How does Meals for $3 work?
Meals for $3 will provide you with a complete meal for $3! it contains a sandwich, drink and a fruit.
Where will this be?
Meals for $3 will be located in the Spoke Rim and Tavern in the area currently sells coffee and bagels..
I heard there were legal constraints to this, is this true?
Yes, however since the Spoke is already in operations and sells food, the USC can change the menu and introduce new products as long as they do not break the current legal contract with hospitality services.
Is this store going to cost students money to operate?
No, Meals for $3 will fund itself through sales. There is no additional student fee to subsidize a cheaper meal. Based on the amount of interest we have received about this store the demand will sell enough meals to cover costs such as food costs, wages, renting of the space, advertising etc.
Ok, so I love the $3 idea but how can we make this happen?
You need to support Marshall Goldfarb for USC President. He is the only candidate that is truly reaching out to issues that matter to everyone. 23,000 undergraduates are effected by unfair food prices and with this election we are in a position to make a change towards fair prices for students.
28 January 2010: $3 MEALS ARE FEASIBLE
Did you know a footlong sub from Subway in the UCC costs $2 more than at locations elsewere in London? Students are being taken advantage of by a monopoly of the food system. By utilizing the Spoke's Yogurt Bar we are introducing economical food alternatives. Stay tuned for a full feasibility report.
A tuna sandwich, water bottle and fruit from Centerspot comes close to $10! We can provide the same meal for $3 plus tax without investing a dollar. No student fees or financing required.
It is simple, the total cost from one sale of a premade tuna sandwich, water bottle and an apple is $1.40. Meals for $3 will operate from 11 am to 7 pm and requires 9 sandwiches to be sold per hour to break even. Considering the ever present line at Subway it is easy to assume there could be upwards to 50 sandwiches sold during lunch and dinner rushes. Please observe the calculations below for specific costs.

27 January 2010: Welcome
Thanks for visiting Marshall Goldfarb's official website for the 2010 campaign for USC President! Marshall's platform identifies and targets major problems on our campus; food prices are extremely high in the UCC, our varsity athletics are underappreciated, and our promotions team, HYPE, is inaddequite to perform duties for all important UWO events.
It is time for the University of Western Ontario's Student Council to improve the quality of life for every student on campus.
